The following affiliates will offer scholarships, but will not make use of applications for a Wikimedia Foundation scholarship. Wikimedians who are interested in receiving a scholarship from them, are invited to apply to the affiliate directly.
विकिमनीआ २०१४ छात्रवृत्ति के कार्यक्रम
विकिमनीआ २०१४, विकिपीडिया गतिविधि कि दसवीं वार्षिक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन के अंतर्गत ६ से १० अगस्त २०१४ को आयोजित कि जा रही है. बारबिकन सेण्टर, लंदन, स्थल को इस आयोजन के लिए चुना गया है.विकिपीडिया संस्था, इस विकिमनीआ आयोजन में भाग लेने वाले कुछ चुने हुवे प्रतिनिधि के सिमित खर्चे को वहन करेगी।

इस छात्रवृति कार्यक्रम के लिए समय कुछ इस प्रकार से हैं:

- विकिमनीआ २०१४ को सफल और उपयोगिक अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मलेन बनाना
- प्रतिभागियों को प्रोत्साहित कर के विकिपीडिया परियोजना को समर्थन करना ।
- विकिपीडिया गतिविधि में आये हुवे भिन्न भिन्न प्रकार के लोगो से सम्मलेन को सफल बनाना ।
छात्रवृति के प्रकार
विकिमेडिए संस्था द्वारा दिए हुवे छात्रवृति इन् व्यय को वहन करेगा :
- आने जाने का खर्च
- साझा आवास का खर्च
- सम्मलेन के लिए पंजीकरण शुल्क
इस छात्रविृत के अंतर्गत कौन कौन से खर्चे का वहन किया जायेगा और कौन से खर्चे प्रतिभागी खुद उठाएंगे, उसके अधिक जानकारी के लिए कृपया FAQ देखें।
आवेदन कि पात्रता
हर कोई जो कि विकिपीडिया प्रोजेक्ट पे सक्रिय योगदानकर्ता है, या विकिमेडिए के लिए किसी भी रूप में स्वयंसेवी है, दुनिया के किसी भी देश का रहने वाला इस कार्यक्रम के लिए पात्र है । अन्य किसी भी रूप में ज्ञान देने वाले, स्वतंत्र रूप के सॉफ्टवेयर, शैक्षिक पहल अथवा सहयोगी भी आवेदन करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किये जाते हैं । योग्यता के बारे में अधिक जानकारी के लिए कृपया FAQ देखें ।
चयन प्रक्रिया
विकिमेडिए संस्था द्वारा दिए जाने वाले छात्रवृति के आवेदनों कि जाँच छात्रवृति समिति द्वारा किया जाता है । छात्रवृति का बॅटवारा दुनिया के भिन्न भिन्न भागों में लगभग कुछ इन् निम्न तरीकों से किया जायेगा ।

योग्य आवेदको की कमी के चलते, छात्रवृति समिति, दिए हुवे मापदण्ड़ को बदलने अधिकार रखता है । छेत्रिय आधार पर वर्गीकृत किये अनेक देशों के नाम इस /Regions स्थान पे उपलब्ध है ।
यदपि आवेदन पत्रों कि श्रेणी उनके क्षेत्र के आधार पे हुई हो, फिर भी किसी भी आवेदन पत्र की जाँच उसके उद्गम स्थान के आधार पर नहीं किया जाएगा, पत्रों कि जांच मानकानुसार कि जायेगी । जांच प्रक्रिया कुल तीन भागों से गुजरेगी:
- पहला चरण: सभी आवेदन पत्रों की जांच तीन या उससे अधिक जांचकर्ता से करवाई जायेगी । आवेदन पत्रों को 'पहले चरण के चयन प्रक्रिया phase one selection criteria' के आधार पे हर जांचकर्ता शून्य (जीरो - अर्थार्त अनुत्तीर्ण) अथवा एक (वन - अर्थार्त उत्तीर्ण) प्रदान करेगा । जो आवेदन पत्र तीन या उनसे अधिक जांचकर्ता के द्वारा उत्तीर्ण होगा वो आवेदन पत्र पहला चरण पार करेगा; जो आवेदन पत्र दो या दो से कम जांचकर्ता द्वारा उत्तीर्ण होगा उसे दूसरे चरण में जाने का मौका नहीं मिलेगा और उसकी आवेदन पत्र को नजर अंदाज़ कर दिया जायेगा । सभी आवेदकों को पहले चरण कि जांच प्रक्रिया पूरी होने के बाद इ-मेल के जरिये सूचित किया जायेगा कि उनका आवेदन पत्र पहला पड़ाव पार कर चुका है या नहीं ।
- दूसरा चरण: पहले चरण को पार करने वाले आवेदन पत्रों कि विस्तारपूर्ण तरीके से कम से कम तीन जांचकर्ता द्वारा जांच की जायेगी । हर जांचकर्ता स्वतंत्र रूप से 'दूसरे चरण कि चयन प्रक्रिया phase two selection criteria' के आधार पर हर आवेदन पत्रों कि जांच करके उन्हें कुल संख्या प्रदान करेगा ।
- तीसरा चरण: दूसरा चरण पूरा होने के बाद छात्रवृति चयन समिति, विकिमेडिए संस्था के साथ बैठकर इस बात का विचार करेगी की छात्रवृति कि कुल राशि कितनी निर्धारित की जाये और उन राशियों को हर प्रान्त में किस तरह से बांटा जाये । कुल राशियों का बटवारा किसी भी प्रान्त के इस बात से निर्धारित की जायेगी की उस प्रान्त से आनेवाले प्रतिभागी को कितनी राशि कि जरुरत पड़ेगी (उदहारण के तौर पे: विकिमनीआ २०१४ में भाग लेने के लिए दक्षिण अफ्रीका से आने वाले प्रतिभागी को ज्यादा संसाधन कि जरुरत पड़ेगी, न की उसको जो फ्रांस से आएगा) । हर आवेदन पत्र को उनके प्रान्त के आधार पर दूसरे चरण के अंक के अनुसार श्रेणी में रखा जायेगा, अंततः ऊँची श्रेणी में रखे जाने वाले आवेदन पत्रों को उनकी श्रेणी के अनुसार छात्रवृति प्रदान की जायेगी । यदि किन्हीं दो या दो से अधिक आवेदकों कि समान श्रेणी आती है तो उस दशा में छात्रवृति उस आवेदक को मिलेगी जो पहले कभी भी छात्रवृति नहीं ले पाया है, साथ ही साथ दूसरे स्तिथि में छात्रवृति उन आवेदको को पहले मिलेगी जिन्हें काफी वर्ष पहले छात्रवृति मिली थी, न कि उन्हें जिन्हें पिछले वर्ष मिली थी । इसके अलावा उच्च श्रेणी में आये हुवे आवेदको को साफ़ और सुथरी परिणाम मिले, उसके लिए बाद में थोड़ी बहुत फेर बदल कि जा सकती है |
तीसरा चरण के पूरा होते ही, एक निर्णय के अनुसार सभी चुने हुवे आवेदकों को इ-मेल के जरिये सूचित किया जायेगा कि उनका आवेदन सफलतापूर्वक स्वीकार कर लिया गया है या अस्वीकार कर दिया गया है । चुने हुवे प्रतिभागियों को विकिमनीआ २०१४ में उपस्तिथ होने और छात्रवृति को स्वीकार करने का मौका दिया जायेगा । कुछ चुने हुवे आवेदन को प्रतीक्षा श्रेणी में रखा जायेगा, चुने हुवे आवेदको कि पुष्टि के आधार पर इन् आवेदकों को बाद में छात्रवृति मिलने का मौका दिया जायेगा अगर अनुमानित तौर पर निर्धारित किये हुवे राशि एवं संसाधन का सही से इस्तेमाल हो ।
चयन मापदंड
पहला चरण
आवेदन पत्र को पहले चरण से अस्वीकार कर दिया जायेगा यदि जांच के दौरान किन्हीं भी एक मापदंड में खरा नहीं उतर पता है तो-
- आवेदन पत्र पूरी तरीके से अथवा कुछ भाग विषय से हट कर या अभद्र हो ।
- आवेदन पत्र में पूछे गए प्रश्नों को आवेदक उचित तरीके से जवाब देने में असफल रहा हो ।
- आवेदक उन् महत्वपूर्ण योगदान को दिखाने में असफल रहा हो, जिससे आवेदक को छात्रवृति प्रदान करने में सहायता हो ।
- आवेदक किसी भी रूप से कहीं भी असफल रहा हो जिससे ये साबित हो सके कि उसे अंग्रेजी भाषा का ज्ञान है । अंग्रेजी प्राथमिक रूप में विकिमनीआ सम्मलेन का आचार विचार कि भाषा है |
जो आवेदन पत्र पहले चरण को सफलतापूर्वक पार करते हैं, उनकी समीक्षा दूसरे चरण में पुनः होगी ।

दूसरे चरण के दौरान आवेदकों को त्री-आयामी तरीके से प्रत्येक कसौटी पे शुन्य से ले कर दस अंको के मानक पे परखा जायेगा । यद्पि प्रत्येक विवरणों को सम अंको के आधार पर रखा गया है, फिर भी आवेदक को विषम अंक भी प्रदान किया जा सकता है अगर आवेदक किन्हीं दो विवरणों के बीच में पड़ता है । कुल अंको के औसत को निकालकर आवेदक को एक अंतिम अंक प्रदान किया जायेगा ।
विकिमेडिए परियोजना अथवा इससे जुड़े हुवे संगठन के अंतर्गत कार्य या कोई पहल (पूर्ण अंक का ५० %)
Activity within Wikimedia projects, affiliate organisations such as chapters or initiatives indicates that an applicant will add value to Wikimania through the experiences and knowledge they have gained from contributing. Examples of online activities include writing articles, uploading images and dealing with vandalism. Examples of offline activities include participating in GLAM events, involvement in the campus ambassador programme and attending meetups. Applicants are encouraged to write about both their online and offline experiences within their application.
- 0 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ शामिल नहीं है और न ही कोई पहल की है, अतः आवेदक प्रतिभागी नहीं है ।
- 2 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ प्रासंगिक रूप से शामिल है और न ही कोई पहल की है, अतः आवेदक एक अति निचले दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
- 4 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ प्रासंगिक रूप से शामिल है और संकीर्ण रूप की पहल की है, अतः आवेदक निचले दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
- 6 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ प्रासंगिक रूप से शामिल है और मध्यम रूप की पहल की है, अतः आवेदक मध्यम दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
- 8 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ संपूर्ण रूप से शामिल है साथ ही साथ अच्छी एवं विविध रूप की पहल की है, अतः आवेदक उँचले दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
- 10 = चूँकि आवेदक विकिमेडिए संस्था या उससे जुड़े हुवे किन्हीं भी संस्था के साथ अति संपूर्ण रूप से शामिल है साथ ही साथ अच्छी एवं विविध रूप की महत्वपूर्ण पहल की है, अतः आवेदक अति उँचले दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
स्वतंत्र ज्ञान से जुड़ा कार्य, स्वतंत्र सॉफ्टवेयर, सहबद्ध तरीके से अथवा कोई शैक्षिक पहल (पूर्ण अंक का २० % )
Activity in other free knowledge, free software, collaborative or educational initiatives outside the Wikimedia movement, indicates that an applicant will add value to Wikimania by bringing new relevant experiences, knowledge and innovations to the conference. Relevant initiatives are those that either have a general educational value or are relevant to the free culture movement, or both. Examples include ICT4D, Moodle, OpenStreetMap, Project Gutenberg and the Creative Commons organisation. A project does not have to follow or support the Wikimedia Foundation's definition of free content to be considered relevant. Applicants are encouraged to write about both their online and offline experiences within relevant initiatives, and to explain how participation in Wikimania by the applicant could bring benefits either to the initiatives or the Wikimedia movement, or both.
- 0 = चूँकि आवेदक किसी भी तरीके से स्वतंत्र ज्ञान से जुड़े काम, स्वतंत्र सॉफ्टवेयर, सहबद्ध तरीके से अथवा कोई शैक्षिक पहल में शामिल नहीं है, अतः आवेदक प्रतिभागी नहीं है ।

- 6 = चूँकि आवेदक निरंतर एवं मध्यम रूप में स्वतंत्र ज्ञान से जुड़े काम, स्वतंत्र सॉफ्टवेयर, सहबद्ध तरीके से अथवा कोई शैक्षिक पहल में शामिल है, अतः आवेदक ऊँचे दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।

- 10 = चूँकि आवेदक निरंतर एवं सम्पूर्ण रूप में स्वतंत्र ज्ञान से जुड़े काम, स्वतंत्र सॉफ्टवेयर, सहबद्ध तरीके से अथवा कोई शैक्षिक पहल में पूरी तत्परता से शामिल है, अतः आवेदक अति ऊँचे दर्जे का प्रतिभागी है ।
विकिमनीआ और विकिमेडिए गतिविधि में कोई रूचि (पूर्ण अंक का ३० % )
Interest in Wikimania and the Wikimedia movement indicates that an applicant will be able to make a significant contribution to Wikimania and get the most out of any scholarship awarded to them. Applicants are encouraged to write about why Wikimania is of interest to them, how they intend to participate in the conference (including any submissions), and what they expect to take away from it all – whether that be at a personal level or for the benefit of the Wikimedia and the free culture movement. It should be noted that answers will be critically analysed during the review process – claims that are modest and realistic will gain more credit than those that are unrealistic or clearly exaggerated.
- 0 = No expressed interest in the Wikimedia movement; no relevant explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.
- 2 = No clear interest in the Wikimedia movement; non-thoughtful or generic explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.
- 4 = Limited interest in the Wikimedia movement; vague or likely unrealistic explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.
- 6 = Moderate interest in the Wikimedia movement; some developed and moderately realistic explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.
- 8 = Strong interest in the Wikimedia movement; many developed and likely realistic explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.
- 10 = Very strong interest in the Wikimedia movement; many exceptionally well developed and clearly realistic explanations as to why the applicant is interested in attending Wikimania.

And I was writing on Wikipedia. I love Wikipedia because it's impartial; it's the best source for up-to-date information from a neutral point of view. I looked at CNN, Al Jazeera and the BBC, searching for the most reliable sources. Then I added updates in real time.
It's incredible. Everyone could know what was happening, as it happened. We could share the truth with people across the world.
We want a world that is more open, more educated, and more free. We want a world where knowledge is available to anyone that seeks it.

My wife and I have a friendly competition. You see, my wife speaks Zulu, I speak Xitsonga, and our children are going to have a tough time choosing which language to use.
As you can imagine, each of us hopes our children will choose our own language. But I have a secret weapon: Wikipedia.
I believe a language should be able to break the cyber barrier. If it's not on the internet, it's a dying language. By contributing to Xitsonga Wikipedia, I help keep my language alive.
In the 1900s, a Swiss missionary began cataloging the culture and artifacts of the Xitsonga-speaking people. His two-volume book is now in the public domain. I am translating this text into Xitsonga, supplemented with my own knowledge.
Every language is part of the human feeling. All the languages that have ever been in the world, they define us as humans. When a language dies, it takes something with it.
Whether my children choose my language or my wife’s language, the important thing is that they have the choice. And as long as we keep our languages alive through Wikipedia, they will.

The Wikimedia Foundation is not the only organisation offering scholarships for Wikimania 2014; some Wikimedia affiliate organisations such as chapters and thematic organisations are also offering their own scholarships.
The following affiliates will collect scholarship applications from those submitted for a Wikimedia Foundation scholarship – there will be no need for applicants to submit a separate application to the affiliate.
