What is Wikimania?
Wikimania is the annual conference for Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia and open content projects. Wikimania 2014 will be the tenth such event, and the first to be held in London. Everyone is welcome, whether an expert, enthusiast, a beginner or just curious.
What is Wikimania 2014 about?
Wikimania 2014 is a 2000 + person conference, unconference, festival, meetup, workshop, hackathon, and party, spread over five days from 6 to 10 August 2014, preceded and followed by fringe events. There will be a full programme of talks, workshops and discussions where you can learn about what people are doing and how you can take part.
How much does it cost?
You can buy standard registration tickets for £50.00 which includes the three day conference and opening ceremony. Single day tickets to the conference are £30.00 and include lunch. Early-bird tickets and hackathon tickets have sold out.
Where do I register?
Are there any discounts or scholarships?
Scholarship applications are now closed. All applicants have been notified of the final decisions. There is an early bird discount rate until 15 June.
What should I bring
- If you have one: a laptop and its charger
- Power adapters (UK-style, 3-pin)
- Phone charger
- Sunscreen and rainwear - London weather is variable!
Is there a safe spaces policy?
Yes, Wikimania has a Friendly space policy.
Is there a cloakroom available during the Hackaton?
Yes, if you take the lift to the third floor, the cloakroom is right in front of you.
Conference Information
Can I register for the conference early?
If you already have your ticket and would like to go through the registration process ahead of the conference, feel free to drop by the Barbican Centre from 8:30 am on Wednesday 6 August. There are two registration desks, one in the main hall and one just outside the Garden Room.

Are there any break out spaces in the Barbican Centre?
The whole Barbican Centre is available for Wikimania and Hackaton attendees for the duration of the conference. You should feel free to roam and set up where you feel like, there are always sofas and tables available on the various floors.

What amenities are there?
There will be wifi and power (UK plugs only, so visitors from other countries will need to bring adaptors).
Will there be food and drink?
Lunch and refreshments (tea, coffee etc.) are included on the conference days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)—and hackathon days (Wednesday, Thursday) if you are attending those as well—as part of your registration fee. Additional food and drinks are available from machines and cafés within the Barbican Centre.

Where is the Press Room?
Once you passed the main registration desk on the lower ground floor (-1), head to the right towards the bag and T-shirt desk. The Press Room will be towards the back on the centre right.

Can I apply to give a talk or run a workshop?
Submissions for sessions are now closed, but there will be plenty of space for breakout meetings and informal gatherings.
