About meI'm an IT professional based in Makati City with combined 10 years working experience in IT security, control and compliance, quality assurance, project management, configuration management, production support and customer service. I have worked with projects for SMEs and global enterprises, and my current focus is on mobile marketing for brands and establishments. Recently, I left my corporate function to take on an entirely different work as a cultural heritage practitioner, implementing projects for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, where I am spearheading a comprehensive documentation project on the church ceiling paintings of Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor. I also write for magazines and trade publications for certain topics of interest such as travel, technology, leisure, arts and culture, architecture, history and food. I also have worked as a Project Liaison Officer, involved with several heritage conservation programs and documentation projects across the country. Also a tour guide specializing in unique tour options for heritage, religious, culinary, extreme adventure and cultural immersions to several Philippine destinations. An aspiring historian and heritage advocate, I keep an extensive documentation of my travels, research and personal insights on Philippine heritage and local tourism. I am also currently working on a book about Philippine church ceiling art, due for release in 2016. I hail from Libon, Albay with Chavacano heritage from Cavite. I write poetry whenever I feel I want to slash my wrists. |
My workI started my advocacy for heritage conservation since 2008, with specialization on heritage documentation. Since then, I have created more than 25,000 images of cultural properties around the Philippines, with special interest in ecclesiastical art and architecture. For the past 3 years, I have also taken an extensive study on Philippine church ceiling paintings, and I have made my work available under CC-BY 3.0 through the Project Kisame Flickr photostream.. In 2013, my documentation work on church ceiling paintings were officially used by the National Museum of the Philippines for the rehabilitation of the damaged churches in Bohol from the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake and the Inmaculada Concepcion Parish Church of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, which was set for eventual inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but was sadly destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan. Seeing the need for a more open and accessible documentation of all cultural properties that are in threat of deterioration due to natural/man-made disasters and human intervention, I started working with Wikimedia Philippines to come up with a nationwide cultural heritage mapping project that will start this May 2014, and funded by the Wikimedia Foundation. |
