Merging some content
@HJ Mitchell, Chris McKenna (WMUK), CT Cooper: I think we should try to merge some of the information on this page, Travel and London/Transportation so that the majority of people only have one place to go which has the most up-to-date and convenient methods of transportation. I think London/Transportation was created and adapted from the original bid, and Travel is linked to from the scholarship emails (and various other places). Perhaps we should merge some of the info from London/Transportation into Travel and maybe link to Hotel Transport from Travel (or transclude the whole page)? I would appreciate your thoughts. - Yeah, I think that's a great idea. Having Travel as the main travel information page and having other pages linked from it, or merged in, will make things easier for readers. CT Cooper · talk 20:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've had a stab at merging some of the information as I suggested above, but Travel#Getting around London could do with some tidying up and simplifying, any Londoners willing to take a look? I've also slightly modified Hotel Transport so it focuses solely on the Thistle City Barbican (as suggested by an edit from Ellie), instructions for other hotels are likely to be pretty similar - do you think we should include those, and if so, which ones? - We should definitely include the Tavelodge on City Road as that's where the UK Scholarship people are being accommodated. If we know where WMDE, WMCH and other chapters offering scholarships are accommodating their people then we should give details for those hotels too. - So WMUK is Travelodge London Central City Road, Wikimedia Italia is scattered over a number of hotels and Wikimedia India is the Thistle City Barbican. I've poked a couple of people from other chapters to see where they're staying, but for now we can work on adding details for the Travelodge too. Thehelpfulone 13:07, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
- Wikimedia France is staying at the Holiday Inn, Wikimedia Germany gave scholars money and were asked to arrange hotel/flights etc independently, but I believe a number of them are staying at the Thistle. Thehelpfulone 14:34, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Gatwick
Would it be simpler to tell people to take the train from Gatwick -> St. Pancras and then Northern Line from KX/St. Pancras? One fewer change but I'm not sure if it's materially different in price/time. Andrew Gray (talk) 08:46, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Getting back to Heathrow
I found the details on how to get to the Thistle from Heathrow (the cheapest way) very useful and I would like to see something similar directing from the thistle to Heathrow terminal 3. From little experience transport in London isn't that straight forward and I wouldn't want to think that its the same way but in the opposite direction.
