Emergent Phenomena
What things in wikimedia are pervasively used, or regularly independently invented, that aren't built into the basic infrastructure? We hypothesise that these are important abstractions that tell us something significant about the nature of the wikimedia process. They don't have to be software tools, they can also be cultural tools, e.g. specialised vocabulary, rituals, etc.
